How to care for a Rabbit

Rabbit Care Guide

1. Housing

Rabbits need a clean, spacious, and secure enclosure. Each rabbit should have at least 90x60 cm of space. Include a hiding spot such as a wooden house or cardboard box. Line the floor with absorbent materials like straw, paper-based bedding, or wood shavings. Place the enclosure in a well-ventilated, dry, and shaded area.

2. Suitable Diet

A rabbits primary diet should consist of high-quality hay such as timothy hay, which aids digestion and dental health. Supplement with fresh vegetables like carrots, lettuce, spinach, and morning glory. Offer fruits in small amounts (e.g., apples or bananas). Also provide rabbit-specific pellets and clean water refreshed daily.

3. Health Care

Monitor your rabbit's behavior, eating, and waste regularly. If it stops eating or shows signs of digestive issues, consult a vet promptly. Trim nails regularly and groom the fur to prevent hair ingestion and GI blockages.

4. Bonding and Interaction

Rabbits can form close bonds with humans through gentle interaction, hand-feeding, and sitting quietly nearby. Avoid frequent lifting if they are not yet comfortable, as this may cause stress. Allow supervised free-roaming time to explore and gain trust.
